Mysore/Mysuru: The All India United Trade Union Centre (AIUTUC), Central Employees Unions and Federations, opposing the anti-labour, anti-farmer and anti-people policies of Union and State Governments, have called for a strike on Mar. 28 and 29.
State AIUTUC President K. Somashekar has appealed to the people to support strike. Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan on Monday, he accused both the Central and State Governments of following anti-labour policies. “The Union Government has approved four labour rules which are detrimental to the interest of labourers without discussing them in the Parliament and is in the process of implementing them which is a conspiracy to oppress the labourers. If they are implemented despite strong opposition, we will fight hard against it,” warned Somashekar.
Continuing, he said that the new rules are an attack on the rights of labourers and it is in line with the privatisation and globalisation policies of the Government.
Pointing out that Public Sector Units (PSUs) are being privatised by the Governments and many profit-making units including the BSNL are being projected as loss-making organisations, he said that through this, a systematic conspiracy is being carried out to privatise PSUs such as the Railway, Insurance, Health and Education sectors.
He said that to oppose all this, the two-day strike has been called o Mar. 28 and 29.
District AIUTUC President V. Yashodhara, Secretary Chandrashekara Meti, Joint Secretary N. Muddukrishna and others were present at the press meet.
