UPSC Civil Services (Prelims) held

The exam is being held to fill up 896 vacancies of Civil Service Officers (IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS etc.,) and Mysuru is among the 72 cities in the country, which were declared by the UPSC as the Centres.

A total of 6,238 candidates had registered for Mysuru City Centres, out of which 3,481 appeared, while 2,757 were absent. The paper-I (General) was held from 9.30 am to 11.30 am and Paper-II (subject) from 2.30 to 4.30 pm. Each paper carried 200 marks, according to sources.

The centres in city included MMK&SDM Girls PU College, Krishnamurthypuram, Maharaja’s  College, Yuvaraja’s College, Marimallappa’s High School, Maharani’s Govt. PU College, Marimallappa Degree College, Maharani’s Science College, St. Joseph’s School, Jayalakshmipuram, D. Banumaiah Degree College, St. Mathias High School, Bannimantap, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Siddartha Layout and St. Joseph’s High School, Bannimantap. The Police had clamped prohibitory orders in 200 mts radius of all the 16 exam centres from 6 am to 6 pm today, to ensure smooth conduct of the exam.

DC Abhiram G. Sankar visited some of the centres. The UPSC had appointed an Observer to oversee the exam in city. Also,  the 16 exam centres were classified as 4 routes and 3 teams, each headed by a top officer for overall supervision of the exam.

Joint Director of Collegiate Education R. Murugeshappa functioned as the Nodal Officer for the city centres. Candidates who qualify in the preliminary exam, will become eligible to appear in the main exam and interview.
