It is good to learn that City Traffic Police are contemplating banning vehicle movement in Central Business District (CBD) during Dasara-2022 from 6 pm to 10.30 pm to allow people to enjoy the Dasara illumination without having a fear of being hit by moving vehicles (City Centre Illumination: Police mulling banning vehicles during Dasara in SOM dated Sept. 10, 2022).

A similar plan was illustrated in my letter published in this column in the past before I became a Traffic Warden (Decongest traffic during Dasara in SOM dated Oct.11, 2014). I am happy that the same idea is coming to the limelight now.

I am sure people will definitely appreciate this move if it is implemented with proper alternate arrangements to take care of the elderly and physically challenged and enjoy Dasara illumination for which the State is spending lakhs of rupees of public money.
