Police take two into custody; three on the run

Mysore/Mysuru: Alanahalli Police have taken two persons into custody on the  charges of stealing spare parts of heavy vehicles from a garage and have recovered spare parts worth Rs. 3 lakh from them besides launching a hunt to nab three others, who have gone absconding.

On Feb. 6, Syed Shahid, a mechanic at Friends Auto Garage near the signal light on T. Narasipur-Alanahalli Road had lodged a complaint at Alanahalli Police Station regarding theft of vehicle spare parts at the garage.

In his complaint, Syed had stated that on Feb. 2 at about 4 am, he had come to the garage for emergency repair works of a tipper vehicle and after the repairs were done, he (Syed) did not lock the garage as he had to return soon. When he came back to the garage at 7.30 am, he found the brake drum, joint assemble, hydraulic tank, lift pump and other spare parts of heavy vehicles worth Rs. 3.15 lakh stolen. Syed has also stated in the complaint that as he was busy with his sister’s marriage, he had lodged the complaint late.

Alanahalli Police, who had registered a case, began their investigation and took two persons into custody and recovered the stolen spare parts and seized an Eicher vehicle in which the stolen items were loaded. During interrogation, the two suspects have told the Police that three individuals had taken them to work as labourers and based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have launched a hunt to nab the three persons.
