Mysuru: Venkatagiri Prakashana, Kuvempunagar, has announced ‘Merugiri’ awards to distinguished personalities. The awardees are: 

Prof. K.M. Mahadevaiah, Principal, Maharaja Sanskrit College (Vedagama Shastra), Dr. K. Puttahonnaiah, Founder, Indian Astrological Sciences Research Centre (Jyothishya Shastra), Dr. R.D. Kumar, noted advocate (Legal Service), H.K. Somashekar, President, Sridevi  Academic and Cultural Trust (Social Service), Pragathi Gopalakrishna, Press Photographer (Photography), Dr. K. Raghuram Vajpayee, social worker (Cultural Promotion), Prof. S. Dwaraki, former English faculty, Prof. K. Leela Prakash, Retired Sanskrit Professor, Prof. Padma Chikkerur, former Principal and Prof. C.S. Mangalamma, former Professor of Education (Education).

The awards will be conferred at a programme to be held at Sri Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple premises in Vijayanagar 1st Stage at 10.50 am tomorrow (Dec.10).

Former Kuvempu University VC Prof. K. Chidananda Gowda will inaugurate the event in the presence of the Temple Founder Prof. Bhashyam Swamiji.

Poets’ Meet

The event will also feature a Vijayadashami Poets’ Meet, during which Karnataka Muktaka Sahitya Academy Trust President Prof. S. Ramprasad will honour poets.

Former President of District Kannada Sahitya Parishat Prof. N. Girigowda will preside.
