Mysuru: Ganabharathi has organised a music concert by Vid. Ramakrishnan Murthy at its premises in Kuvempunagar on 21 June at 6 pm.

He will be accompanied by Vid. V.S. Gokul on violin, Vid. Tumkur B. Ravishankar on mridanga and Vid. Guruprasanna on kanjira. This programme is organised in memory of Smt Sugunamma Dayalu.

Vid. Ramakrishnan Murthy began his Karnatak music training under Padma Kutty in Irvine in 1997. Then, he began to take advanced training under veteran violinist Delhi P. Sunder Rajan. Ramakrishnan also spent brief periods of time learning from Vairamangalam Lakshminarayanan, C.R. Vaidyanathan, Vaikom Jayachandran and Chingleput Ranganathan. Currently he is under the tutelage of Vid. R.K. Shriramkumar.

Ramakrishnan is an Informatics graduate from the University of California, Irvine and began pursuing Karnatak music full time. He has, since, performed regularly in Indian and International Music Festivals and famous Sabhas, including Madras Music Academy and has been accompanied on violin and mridanga by notable artistes such as Delhi P. Sundararajan, R.K. Shriramkumar, Nagai Muralidharan, Mysore Brothers  and T.K. Murthy, T.V. Gopalakrishnan, Guruvayur Dorai, Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman, Trichy Sankaran and Karaikudi Mani to name a few.

His wise sense of aesthetics, his alignment to pitch, enunciation of words, the clarity of his gamakas and his patanthara are often appreciated by critics. His mastery in the art has earned him many awards like Yagnaraman Award of Excellence, Kalki Krishnamurthy Memorial Award, Shanmukha Sangeetha Shironmani title, Outstanding Vocalist for four consecutive years from the Madras Music Academy, Senior Outstanding Concert Award, Madras Music Academy.

Vid. Gokul entered the world of music as child prodigy. Within a very short span of time acquired mastery over his instrument. Now he is the most sought after violinist.

Vid. Tumkur B. Ravishankar was trained under his father Vid. T. Bhadrachar. Later on acquired advanced training under Vid. Karaikudi Mani. Because of his virtuosity he is in great demand.

Vid. Guruprasanna is the disciple of Vid. Vyasa Vittala. He has created a unique identity for himself in kanjira playing.
