Villagers of Kergalli have a reason to smile

May 28, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Residents of Kergalli village in Beerihundi Gram Panchayat limits have a reason to smile. Thanks to strict following of suggestions of doctors and health staff, this village is inching towards becoming ‘Corona-free village.’

A few Corona positive cases were reported in the month of April and it reduced to only three cases in May. All of them have recovered as per consultation of doctors and health staff and taking medicine. Three days ago, a person was discharged from hospital after full recovery, said Mahadev, a resident.

According to him, a Doctor and a Nurse work in sub-centre of the Health and Family Welfare Department. Doctor will be available at the centre three days in a week and examine patients. Nurse distributes medicines for patients with fever, cough and cold. This has helped in their early recovery, he added.

The villagers are afraid to go out of houses following TV channels beaming news of positive cases and deaths across the State. This has made them to strictly follow the COVID protocol.

According to District Administration details, as many as 27 wards of the total 247 wards have zero COVID cases. However, this is excluding the wards in Mysuru City Corporation.

D.B. Kuppe is the only Gram Panchayat that does not have a single COVID case. This GP has a population of 7,000.

A total of 343 villages out of 1,560 do not have a single COVID case and around 160 villages have cases above 20.
