The golden voiced Vid. Madurai N. Sivaganesh will be presenting a Karnatak vocal concert on Saturday (May 21) at 6 pm at the Alwar Kala Bhavan in Gokulam. This concert is organised by Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Gokulam.
He had his early training in vocal from his grandfather Vid. R.N. Sivasailam and later for fifteen years under Vid. R. Kannan, disciple of Padma Bhushan Vid. T.N. Seshagopalan. He continued his advanced training for six years under the guidance of Vid. C.R. Vaidyanathan, disciple of Padma Bhushan Vid. P. S. Narayanaswamy.
Vid. Sivaganesh has won many awards and to name a few: Recipient of “Yuva Kala-kar Puraskar” 2020 from Sri Shan-mukhanandha Sabha, Mumbai; “India Book of Record holder” for “100 Ragas at a stretch” in 2020; Recipient of “Sangeetha Mudhra Award- 2016″ hosted by the Cabha “Mudhra”; Recipient of “Times Thyagaraja Award 2016″ from “Times of India”; Recipient of “Bharata Ratna Smt. M.S. Subbulakshmi National Competition Award 2016” hosted by Brahmara Trust, Mysore; Recipient of “Top Five voices for the future award -2015” from Sruti magazine, Karnatak Music Forum and TAG Corporation in January 2015.
Besides, he secured first prize in All India Radio competition 2013 (National-level) in Karnatak vocal stream and awarded B Grade; later upgraded to B High; Recipient of ITC-SRA Award from ITC Trust held at NCPA (National Centre for Performing Artists), Mumbai (January 2014); Semi-Finalist in Naad Bhed Competitions conducted by DD National TV in 2014; He was one among the Top Ten Contestants in “Tanishq Swarna Sangeetham Season 2” telecast in Raj TV (Judges Sowmya, Ashok Ramani and other leading Karnatak musicians).
Vid. Sivaganesh is a “B High” grade artiste of the All India Radio. He has given concerts both nationally and internationally at UK and at The Music Academy, Mylapore Arts Academy, TAG Centre, Raaga Sudha, at Chennai; Bharata Ratna Smt. M.S. Subbulakshmi Centenary Celebrations Concert organised by Bhramara Trust of Y.T. and Madhuri Thathachari; Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, at Mysore; Palakkad Fine Arts, Nadopasana Sabha, Neelakanta Sivan Sabha Trust in Kerala, Gananjali Festival at Chidambaram Temple, Tamil Nadu; Sri Shanmukhananda Sabha, Mumbai.
Vid. Sivaganesh will be accompanied on the violin by Vidu. C.V. Shruti, mridanga by Vid. P.S. Sridhar and morching by Vid. V.S. Ramesh.
