Vocal Recital and rare Angklung Concert to mark Anniversary of Nadabrahma Sabha tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, JLB Road, is celebrating its 68th Anniversary on Jan. 6 and 7.

On Jan. 6 at 6 pm for Smt. Rukmini Ammal & Sri Ramaswamy Iyengar Endowment by Madhuri Thathachari will be a Vocal Concert  by ‘Nadakishori’ Awardee Vidu. Dhanya Dinesh. She will be accompanied on violin by Vid. Pruthvi Bhaskar, mridanga by Vid. Nandan Kashyap and ghata by Vid. Shamith Gowda.

On Jan. 7 at 6 pm, the anniversary of the Sabha is celebrated in memory of erstwhile President of the Sabha  Dr. A.K. Gopala Rajan who was a well-known physician in Mysuru. His students and fraternity of Doctors are the sponsors.

On this occasion, Sabha recognises a senior artiste who has give his/her mite to music with the title ‘Nadabrahma.’ This year, it is being given to Octogenarian Dr. H.S. Anasuya Kulakarni for her creative contribution of varied instruments to Karnatak Music.

She will also be given a cash prize in the name of Digvijaya Nadavani Nadabrahma Vidhya Varidhi Vidwan Gottuvadyam Narayana Iyengar instituted by Chitraveena N. Ravikiran.

Subsequently, she also performs on a rare Indonesian Bamboo Instrument Angklung. She will be accompanied by Vidu. Jyotsna Manjunath on violin, Vid. H.L. Shivashankaraswamy on mridanga and Vid. S. Manjunath on ghata.

Nadakishorotsava-2023 awards will be presented on the occasion to the following:

Dhanya Dinesh – I place and ‘Nadakishori’ title, S. Chaitrika – II place, Govinda Madhava – III place, Pruthvi Bhaskar – Best Violinist and Nandan Kashyap – Best Mridangist.

‘Nadakishori’ awardee: Dhanya, who started her vocal training from a very young age under Vid. Neyveli Santhana Gopalan, presently is under Vid. Delhi P. Sunder Rajan. She is a Graded artiste of Akashvani.

A highly talented musician with a melodious voice, she has been giving stage performances for around 5 years in almost all major platforms, both online and live concerts.

She has won many awards to her credit. Academically, she has BE in Biotechnology and is a Research Associate at Biocon Bristol Myers Squibb Research Centre.
