March 20, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: The District Administration and District SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) Committee held a voting awareness programme for Medical Officers under the Department of Health & Family Welfare.

Inaugurating the programme, Zilla Panchayat (ZP) CEO K.M. Gayathri said that in the current scenario, learning about the election process, including checking of names in the voter’s list, was easier through various Apps.

Urging the officers to participate in the voting process on Apr. 26, Gayathri instructed the officials to ensure that all eligible voters in their family exercise their franchise.

“The Medical Officers including the Taluk Health Officer must create awareness on voting process during the health camps. Doctors should use prescription slips with printed messages to educate the voters. ASHA workers must also be enlightened about the voting process and should be instructed to create awareness among the public,” she added.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant SVEEP Nodal Officer Shantha said that the Voter Helpline App had the information about the voter’s list, addition/deletion process, EVM, VVPAT and candidates.

“Public can play a vital role in preventing illegal activities by uploading information along with a photograph at the C-Vigil app for which the identity of the informer will not be revealed,” she added.

She also called upon the Medical Officers to educate youngsters attaining the age of 18 years to enrol themselves in the voter’s list.

Medical Officers were also administered the oath on the occasion. District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. P.C. Kumaraswamy, District Leprosy Officer (DLO) Dr. B. Brinda, District-level Medical Officers and other officials  were present.
