Probationary Sub-Inspector allegedly cheats girl students

  • Accused working at Chamarajanagar SP Office
  • Extorted lakhs of rupees from students, blackmailed them
  • Students lodge complaint with IGP (Southern Range) and DGP with over 100 documents

Mysore/Mysuru: Three girl students have accused a Probationary Sub-Inspector (SI) of having sexual relationship by promising to marry them, later extorting lakhs of rupees from them, sending obscene videos to their phones and blackmailing them by threatening to upload their messages on social media if they do not have sexual relationship with him.

The students, not knowing what to do, approached Mysuru Zilla Budakattu Soliga Abhivrudhi Sangha office-bearers at Kuvempunagar, who in turn has lodged a complaint with IGP (Southern Range) in city and to the Director General of Police (DGP) in Bengaluru. Over 100 documents including WhatsApp chats and Bank transactions have been produced along with the compliant.

According to the complaint, the girl students are from Hunsur, Hassan and Chamarajanagar and belong to SC and ST communities. They are pursuing their first year degree course at a college in Mysuru and the accused Probationary SI is B.H. Jagadish, who is currently serving at Chamarajanagar SP Office.

The SI, who developed friendship with these girls separately, reportedly promised to marry them and used to chat on WhatsApp with them. Promising the girls that he would marry them after he completes the construction of his house, he told them that he was in need of money to complete the house and took lakhs of rupees from them.

When the girls asked him about the marriage, he allegedly abused them by their caste and threatened to upload their chats on social media besides blackmailing them. The SI is also said to have threatened the girls saying that he was a Police officer with political connections and they (girls) can do nothing. The SI had also reportedly sent obscene videos on WhatsApp to the girls.

As the girls were studying in the same college, they shared their agony with each other and it was then they came to know that they were cheated by the same person.

They later approached Mysuru Zilla Budakattu Soliga Abhivrudhi Sangha and told the office-bearers about the ordeal they are facing and gave them copies of their chats with the SI and documents pertaining to cash transactions with the SI. The Sangha office-bearers in turn have lodged complaints against the Probationary SI with the IGP (Southern Range), Mysuru and with the DGP in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, Chamarajanagar SP Padmini Sahoo said, “We have not received any complaints from the victims. They have lodged complaint with IGP (Southern Range) & DGP. The IGP called me over the phone and told me that the complaint will be forwarded besides asking me to initiate legal action against Probationary SI Jagadish. Once I receive the complaint from the IGP, I will conduct investigation and take legal action.”
