VVCE women excel in Kabaddi

Mysuru: Women’s kabaddi team of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) emerged runners-up in the VTU State-level Women’s Kabaddi Tournament held at Kalpataru Institute of Technology in  Tiptur recently. Teams from 16 colleges took part in tournament.

In the semi-final, VVCE defeated Raja Rajeswari Engineering College, Bengaluru, by 8 points to enter the final.

In the keenly contested final, VVCE narrowly lost by 2 points against SJSCIT College from Chikkaballapur. In the first half, both the teams were tied at 15 points each and later in the second half, SJSCIT College added 18 points to take their tally to 38 points while VVCE managed 16 points to end with 36 points.

D. Chandana, captain of the VVCE team, won the ‘Best Player’ award while G.M. Aishwarya, also from VVCE, won ‘Best Defender’ award.
