Walkathon to create awareness on heart disease prevention held

Mysuru: The Cardiological Society of India, Mysore Chapter, in a bid to create awareness among public on prevention of heart diseases, had organised a walkathon with the theme ‘My Heart, Your Heart’ in city this morning.

The walkathon was flagged off by the titular head of Mysuru Royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar from J.K. Grounds near City Railway Station at about 8.30 am.

Over 700 participants including members of Cardiological Society, public and heart patients took part in the walkathon,  which passed through Dewan’s Road, Dhanvantri Road, Narayana Shastri Road, Devaraj Urs Road, JLB Road, Railway Station Circle and culminated at the starting point. Yaduveer walked with the participants for some distance.

Later, a stage programme was held at the Platinum Jubilee Auditorium of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute which was inaugurated by Star of Mysore Editor-in-Chief K.B. Ganapathy. Cardiological Society of India, Mysore Chapter President Dr. Harsha Basappa, Secretary Dr. K.S. Rajith, Vice-President Dr. Dinesh Basavanna, Treasurer Dr.J. Veenu, Executive Committee Members Dr.D. Sasirekha and Dr.N.S. Rajendra and others were present.
