I was walking near Jaganmayi-Tanmayi Park close to my house in Kuvempunagar on Aug. 26 evening when a person came in the two-wheeler from behind and snatched my mobile phone. I screamed for help but there was no one around. I even tried to chase him but in vain.
So I immediately called the Police, who came to the spot and collected the details. Police said a case has been registered but when I went personally to the Police Station and asked them for the complaint number they kept on dodging me.
Finally I had to insist for an FIR and after a week they registered an FIR.
Now it is almost a month since the incident took place and there is no follow up on the case. I call the Police once in two days only to get a ‘no’ reply from them.
I am sure they can apprehend the culprit if they access the footages of the CCTVs installed in the surrounding places.
Carrying the phone while on walk is not wrong as people may need it in case of emergency, especially the elderly and people with health issues. As such incidents are on the rise of late, the walkers have to be cautious of mobile-phone snatchers.
