Mysore/Mysuru: As part of online learning series, The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Student Branch, GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru and IEEE – Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, in association with IEEE Bengaluru Section and IEEE Circuits and Systems (CAS) Society, Bengaluru Chapter, had organised IEEE Day Webinar Series recently.
The experts from various countries like Italy, UK, USA and Myanmar were invited as a speaker for the webinar series. The webinar was graced by Dr. M. Shivakumar, Principal, GSSSIETW, Dr. B.D. Parameshachari, Professor & Head, Dept. of TCE & IEEE Student Branch Counsellor, GSSSIETW, Mysuru and participants from across India from different Universities.
The webinar was co-ordinated by IEEE Staff Co-ordinators, M. Basavanna and C.G. Nayana, Assistant Professors, GSSSSIETW, Mysuru and Dr. B. Manjuprasad, Associate Professor, Department of CSE, GSSSIETW, Mysuru.
The Day-1 session on ‘Softwarisation and Virtualisation in 5G and Beyond’ was given by Dr. Fabrizio Granelli, Chair, Joint ComSoc/VTS Italian Chapter, Research Associate Professor, University of New Mexico (NM, USA), DISI – University of Trento, Italy. He gave insights of 5G communications, its advantages over previous 4G and 3G technology.
The Day- 2 webinar was given by Dr. Sanju Tiwari, Sr. Researcher, Autonomous University of Tamaulipas, Mexico, USA, on ‘A vision of semantic web from World Wide Web.’ She emphasised on semantic web which is an extension of World Wide Web.
The Day-3 webinar on ‘Exploring Opportunities in COVID-19: Artificial Intelligence & Security’ by Dr. Celestine Iwendi, Fellow Higher Education Academy, UK and Visiting Professor of Coal City University, Nigeria. He explained about importance of utilising COVID-19 pandemic situation for learning and gave insights about Artificial Intelligence and its applications in security.
The Day-4 webinar was given by Dr. G.R. Sinha, Professor, Myanmar Institute of Technology, Myanmar, on ‘Exploiting Capabilities of Cognitive Science Studies and Brain Computing.’ The speaker explained about Brain computer interface, its advances and application in medical field.
The last in the series, Day-5 webinar was on ‘Biometrics – A double edge sword’ by Dr. Pritee Khanna, Associate Professor, CSE, PDPM – Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing Jabalpur. She gave insights about various advances in biometrics and its applications for security.
