Weekend concerts at Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha

March 10, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha is organising two concerts during this weekend. One revolving around Krishna and the other on Shiva.

Vidu. Bhargavi Venkataram will give a vocal concert with a number of Compositions on Lord Krishna on Mar. 11 at 6 pm for Smt. Gunamba Nanjaraje Urs Memorial Concert sponsored by Harin Nanjaraje Urs. She will be accompanied by Vidu. Kritik Kaushik on violin, Vid. Sunil Subrahmanya on mridanga and Vid. S. Manjunath on ghata.

Bhargavi Venkatram never thought she would take up singing Karnatak music professionally in spite of strong genes of music, especially professionally. Sure, she was surrounded by it, with father and renowned violinist H.K. Venkatram and mother and aunt, Triveni and Kavitha (known as the Saralaya Sisters) exposing her to it constantly, an action that she said provided her “no respite” from what she now calls her full-time, passion-filled profession.

Her love was for Bharatanatyam and would attend concerts as a virtue of her musical lineage and hum songs and ragams, but never seriously.Of the concerts she attended, Vidwan and Guru T.M. Krishna’s voice mesmerised, turning her towards Karnatak vocal music.

On Mar.12 (Sunday) at 6 pm, “Paramashiva through the composers’ eyes” (Vageyakararu Kanda Paramashiva) willbe presented for Smt. Indiradevi Praphullachandra Memorial Concert sponsored by V. Praphullachandra. It will be a thematic presentation on the compositions on Lord Shiva, in various compositional formats and languages, across time periods.

Concept and vocal – Vidu. Kritika Srinivasan, violin – Vid. M. Keshava, mridanga – Vid. G.S. Ramanujan and morching – Vid. V.S. Ramesh Krithika Sreenivasan is an Engineering Graduate, a Karnaak musician, a writer, a music educator and an Education Manager at the Indian Music Experience Museum, India’s first interactive music museum.

Currently receiving advanced training from Vidwan Chitravina Ravikiran and Vidwan Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma and Vid.T.S. Vasanta Madhavi, she has imbibed the best of the abilities of her Gurus. She is a graded artiste of AIR.
