‘What’s wrong in naming road after CM Siddu’

December 27, 2024

Mysuru: KPCC Spokesman M. Lakshmana has taken a dig at the objections being raised to the proposal to rename Princess Road as ‘Siddaramaiah Arogya Marga’, when several roads across the country have been named after the leaders who are facing several heinous charges.

He was addressing media persons at the City Congress Office here yesterday.

Lakshmana said, one P.B. Road in Belagavi has been christened after former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, who is accused in a POCSO case, but what is wrong in naming a road after CM Siddaramaiah, who has contributed for the development of his home town, Mysuru.

Giving a list of roads named after several leaders, Lakshmana said, a road in Gujarat is named after Home Minister Amit Shah, while a stadium was renamed after PM Narendra Modi. A village road by name Bola in Udupi district was named after Nathuram Godse (who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi).

Quoting the stance of former Mysuru-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha, who has endorsed the proposal to name the road after Siddaramaiah, Lakshmana said, this move of Simha deserves a applause. He seems to have woken up to the reality and will take him for a cup of coffee, if we meet anywhere,                                          said Lakshmana.

Some of the BJP leaders are sadists by nature, whose hidden agenda is being exposed. The BJP Government which had five Chief Ministers, should list its contributions to Mysuru, demanded Lakshmana.

It is unfortunate that the proposal to rename 2.1 km stretch of road is a matter of huge debate in and out of the country. It was the proposal submitted by the local Chamaraja Constituency MLA K. Harish Gowda, in keeping with the desire of the people of the Constituency.
