Will MCC form Ward Committees?

May 24, 2017

Sir,

The Karnataka High Court’s decision dated 24.4.2017 (SOM dated May 21) directing the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike to form Ward Committees is most welcome. The directions now ensures statutory support for citizens monitoring in all civic matters concerning the Wards for development and transparency.

Although the Mysuru City Corporation had started the process of forming the Ward Committees and former MLC  D. Madegowda too took lot of initiatives in the recent past, it was shelved down at the behest of some Corporators.  With the latest order of Karnataka High Court, the MCC Commissioner should take immediate action in formation of the much-need Ward Committees.
