Will NHAI help motorists by fixing direction boards at vantage points?

September 27, 2023

Sir,

The Central Government in association with the respective State Governments are constructing very good motorable roads throughout the length and breadth of  India.  But the complacent  National Highways Authority of India  (NHAI) is playing a spoil-sport.

The  Highway connecting Chamarajanagar – Nanjangud – Mysuru is not provided with direction indicators at any vantage junction. The road by-passing Nanjangud town just before Sri Nanjundeshwara  Temple towards Mysuru and T. Narasipur creates a lot of confusion for the motorists.

The straight road leads to Nanjangud town, Gundlupet and beyond and the road towards right hand side leads to Mysuru and T. Narasipur.

Tourists get utterly confused at this junction. They travel straight towards Nanjangud town and then on realising their mistake, they take a dangerous and risky ‘U’ turn, blocking free flow of traffic.

Also travelling further, one  road leads to Mysuru and the right hand side road leads to T. Narasipur. Here also there are no direction boards to guide the motorists to avoid confusion.

During Dasara there will be a heavy flow of tourists from Kerala and Tamil Nadu coming from Chamarajanagar side. I request the NHAI to fix appropriate direction boards at all vantage points immediately and save the motorists from the confusion prevailing now.
