This is further to concerns raised by many in this column. We, the residents of Bank Employees Colony, Bogadi, are facing the problem of garbage and debris being dumped on both sides of service roads along the Ring Road (see photo).

Though arrangement has been made by local authorities to clear garbage, the habit of dumping on road side continues  and building debris are still found in abundance with banned plastic covers spread all over. It’s the educated lot who keep dumping during night time.

We fail to understand when the City Corporation is picking up garbage at doorstep in all localities of city,  why  are the people dumping garbage on service roads? It is painful to see cows eating these hazardous plastic covers.

Most residents of localities along the Ring Road use this service road for walking but have to experience stinking smell around. The covers of drains are missing at many places and the gap which is posing life threat, is also used for dumping garbage.

Though the same is reported in this forum many times, the authorities have  ignored this health hazard and cleanliness in service road, which also drags down our ranking as clean city under Swachh Survekshan.

We once again request the authorities concerned to  get the same cleared and take strict action against those dumping both garbage and building debris.

It is  high time that strict pre-ventive action is initiated like installing CCTV cameras at prominent places to monitor such dumping and regular maintenance of service roads by clearing portion of sand /garbage/ debris.

I also request the elected representatives to take a detour of the service roads and check the condition of surroundings, along Ring Road. Mysuru can well be a smart city, only if it is free of garbage and debris on its roads.
