Woman ends life over alleged character assassination

May 30, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: A woman, depressed over a man allegedly spreading false information about her character, committed suicide by hanging self at a park in Gandhinagar about three days ago.

The deceased woman has been identified as Vijayalakshmi (40) and a case has been registered against seven persons including one Nagaraju of Dadadahalli village, who had spread false information about the deceased woman’s character.

It is learnt that Vijayalakshmi and her family were residing in Dadadahalli village and accused Nagaraju of the same village used to harass Vijayalakshmi frequently and used to openly spread false information about her character and abuse her using foul language in drunken stupor.

Vijayalakshmi’s son Abhi questioned the behaviour of Nagaraju following which Nagaraju and others barged into Vijayalakshmi’s house and had created ruckus. The matter went to the Court and Vijayalakshmi’s family was barred from entering the village, following which the family moved to Shivamogga.

About three days ago, Vijayalakshmi and her family members tried to return to Dadadahalli village during which Nagaraju and others opposed their entry to the village and again spoke badly about her character, thus harassing her mentally.

Later, Vijayalakshmi and her family came to Mysuru and stayed in the house of a relative in Gandhinagar. But Vijayalakshmi, who was depressed over her character being assassinated, went to Siddartha Park in Gandhinagar and reportedly hanged herself.

Narasimharaja Police, who have registered a case against Nagaraju, Rajamma, Govindaraju, Nanjunda, Narayana, Nanjappa and Swamy,  are investigating.
