Woman Food Inspector alleges harassment by Dept. Deputy Director

March 13, 2017

Taluk Food Inspector Vijayalakshmi submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep at his office here this morning alleging that she was being unduly harassed by Dr. K. Rameshwarappa, Deputy Director, Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.

In her complaint, Vijayalakshmi alleged that the Deputy Director was unnecessarily targeting her with silly remarks on her work, holding her for long hours at meetings, issuing notices on flimsy issues and even referring to Police on one occasion.

She further alleged that a few other women employees too were at the receiving end for no fault of theirs. Randeep assured Vijayalakshmi that he would look into the matter and do the needful.

Vijayalakshmi was said to have posted her allegations on social media. Objecting to that, the DC asked Vijayalakshmi to discuss the matter with Department  higher-ups and advised her not to post such comments on social media or elsewhere.
