Mysuru:  An incident of a woman injuring her neighbour for allegedly throwing stone at stray dogs which she was taking care of has been reported on Tuesday at Gokulam here. While the injured has been identified as 52-year-old Chikkathayamma, the woman who injured her has been identified as Gayatri.

On Tuesday morning, Chikkathayamma, who had gone to fetch her grandchildren from yoga classes, was returning along with them when a stray dog came barking towards them. Fearing that the dog may harm her grandchildren, Chikkathayamma, allegedly threw a stone at the dog to scare it.

Gayatri, who saw it, reportedly picked up a fight with Chikkathayamma and soon verbal duel ensued between them and Gayatri in a fit of rage, assaulted Chikkathayamma with a stone injuring her on the forehead. She was then rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and her son Sachidananda has lodged a complaint with   V.V. Puram Police.

V.V. Puram Inspector Suraj, speaking to SOM, said that a case has been registered against Gayatri and an enquiry is going on. He further said that Chikkathayamma has suffered injuries on her forehead and added that no arrests have been made so far.

It is learnt that, Gayatri had moved into the house which belongs to her brother about a year ago and used to feed a pack of stray dogs regularly.

She used to pick up fights on seeing her neighbours ill-treating the dogs besides quarrelling with them for trivial reasons, following which Chikkathayamma had installed CCTV camera outside the house.

It is learnt that there have been many such incidents between Chikkathayamma and Gayatri after the CCTV camera was installed which had led to the family members of Chikkathayamma lodging complaints with the Cops, which were reported as ‘non-cognisable.’ But the Police, who have taken this particular case seriously, are investigating.
