Woman meets watery grave in Kapila River

Mysore/Mysuru: In a tragic incident, a married woman who had come to offer prayers at a temple in Nanjangud taluk,  drowned after slipping into River Kapila on Friday.

Kavita (38), wife of Girish of Nanjadevanapura in Chamarajanagar district and daughter of Mysuru PLD Bank President  D.B. Nagaraj is the deceased.

Kavita and Girish had come to Sri Kshetra Sangama near Hullahalli in Nanjangud taluk to visit a temple. Before entering the temple, Kavita went to River Kapila to wash her hands and legs, when she accidentally slipped and drowned in the river.

Her husband Girish , who was a little distance away, tried to save her from drowning, but in vain, it is learnt.

Hullahalli Police have registered a case in this regard.

Kavita’s last rites were performed at Nanjadevanapura this afternoon.
