Women lay siege to Water Works office

May 16, 2017

Mysuru: Nearly 30 women with empty pots laid siege to the Water Works office in Rajendranagar, NR Mohalla limits  (Ward No. 46), here this morning and locked the office with bill collector Shankar inside.

Led by former Corporator Babu, they were on a strike demanding proper supply of drinking water. The women alleged that they were deprived of proper supply as there was only one valve on either side of Babu Thota which was causing problems for them. One side was getting more water while the other side was getting less.

On hearing the problem caused, area Inspector Venkatesh, engineer Nagaraj Gowda and AEE Anand Murthy rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators assuring them that the problem will be solved at the earliest.

The agitators withdrew the protest on the oral assurance by the officials concerned.
