Bharatiya Mahila Bank (BMB), with the vision ‘Empowering Women Economically,’ celebrated International Women’s Day on Mar. 8.

Marking the occasion, a workshop to encourage women entrepreneurs was organised at the Registered Office of the Bank in Delhi. The Bank is aiding the women to create assets and empowering them financially.

On this occasion, loans to 1,000 Women Entrepreneurs were distributed for various income-generating economic activities through BMB branches across the country.

Addressing the gathering, S.M. Swathi, Executive Director, Bharatiya Mahila Bank Ltd., emphasised the need for women to be self-reliant.

She highlighted the importance of women entrepreneurship for the growth of our country and BMB’s contribution through the various women-centric products, MUDRA loans, SME loans facilities etc. The Bank offers special discount to women entrepreneurs and women customers, she added.

The Bank is focusing on the entire pyramid of Indian women, special attention is given to economically-neglected, deprived, discriminated, unbanked, rural and urban women to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth.

The Bank with a team of professionals with rich experience and expertise has designed and developed new products and services to suit the needs of women of all segments including Self Help Groups (SHG), women entrepreneurs, salaried women, HNIs and corporates.

On this occasion, to further encourage women entrepreneurship, the Bank entered into an MoU with Federation of Indian Women Entrepreneurs (FIWE) and Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council (BWSSC).

These tie-ups will encourage training, counselling and skill-development of women through lending by BMB which is in line with ‘Make in India’ programme.

Bank also donated a part of its furniture to Mahila Chetna Kendra (regd.), women charity organisation as a part of its CSR activities. Other senior executives and Bank officials were also present during the programme.

SPI: SPI celebrated Women’s Day by educating its employees on the importance of nutrition and healthy lifestyle.

Greena Menezes, Assistant Manager (Operations) and Dietetics and a Nutrition expert, was invited to address the women employees group and discuss with them the issues prevailing in the current scenario.

Greena educated the women’s team on various aspects of nutrition and diet like balanced nutrition, stress management, impact of diet on hormones and issues faced and measures to tackle them.

She dealt upon issues that are common today like diabetes, dyslipidemia, digestive problems, depression, divorce, stiffness fever and obesity.

There was also a quiz that educated the team on diet for healthy living, calorie intake and burning them.

Asha Kalale, Global Business Leader – Human Resource (HR), was present.

MyCEM: International Women’s Day was celebrated in Mysore College of Engineering and Management (MyCEM) premises on Mar. 8.  On this occasion, well-known academician and writer  Dr. H.T. Shylaja was felicitated.

Later, she addressed the gathering highlighting the origin, background and importance of Women’s Day and informed that even today when women are still fighting for gender equality, they have excelled in many fields.

Trustee Prof. M. Manjunatha, Director (Academic), urged that uniform civil code must be implemented.

Prof. Nagabhushana regretted growing atrocities against women. Staff and students were present on the occasion.
