Karnataka Haemophilia Registry begins; 1st Unique Card given to patient

Mysuru: Haemophilia Society, Mysuru, had organised an awareness workshop on Haemophilia for the patients from Mysuru, Kodagu, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Hassan districts recently.

Dr. Banakar, Nodal Officer, Health and Family Welfare Department, inaugurated the workshop in the presence of Dr. Basavaraju, District Health Officer (DHO); Dr. S. Chandrashekar, Medical Superintendent of KR Hospital; Dr. Ravishankar, HoD of Medicine; Dr. Manjunath, HoD of Pathology; Dr. Sudha Rudrappa, HoD of Paediatric, Cheluvamba Hospital; Dr. Kavita, Principal, JSS Physiotherapy College; Dr. Swarna, Mysore Nodal & TB Officer; Vikas Goyal, National President, Haemophilia Federation (India)  and former MLA E. Maruti Rao Pawar.

Society President Dr. S.K. Mittal, in his welcome address, spoke on the growth in the number of identified patients from 63 to 150. He highlighted the Union Government’s concern and inclusion of Haemophilia as Disability in Disability Act of 2016.

Haemophilia Federation (India) (HFI) National President Vikas Goyal, in introductory remarks, briefed about the HFI activities and congratulated Mysore Haemophilia Society for their yeoman service, a model for other chapters.

Dr. Banakar released the 1st Unique Haemophilia Card and informed about the Government’s concern to serve the people. He also announced that complete testing facilities will be provided at KR Hospital and other district Hospitals to save patients.

DHO Dr. Basavaraju announced complete assistance and help to the Society and asked the District Nodal Officer to co-ordinate. Dr. Chandrashekar briefed about the availability of costly medicine and also arrangement by providing suitable Ward facilities.

Dr. Kavita and Dr. Sandeep took physiotherapy session and gave vital exercise tips to patients. They also assured of treatment to needy patients at JSS Hospital. Kusumanjari and Haemophilia handbook were distributed to all patients along with Karnataka Haemophilia Registry Unique Card on the occasion.
