Workshop on ‘Research Ethics’ held at RIE

March 2, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: “Research ethics are the moral principles that a person must follow while conducting research, irrespective of the place and time,” said Dr. N.N. Prahallada, former Faculty, Regional Institute of Education, (RIE), NCERT, Mysuru, while delivering a special lecture on ‘Research Ethics’, at a three-day  orientation workshop on ‘Conducting Research and Publication Ethics Course’ held at the Inter-University Centre For Teacher Education (IUCTE), RIE premises, here recently.

Dr. Prahallada said the application of moral principles and professional codes of conduct to the collection, analysis, reporting, and publication of information about research subjects, in particular, active acceptance of subjects,  right to privacy, confidentiality and informed consent will go a long way in upholding the concept of research ethics.

‘Lack of knowledge, poor research skills, lack of command over the language, lack of time for reading and understanding, laziness, fear of failure and desire for instantaneous recognition are the major reasons for plagiarism in research,’ said Dr. Prahallada.

M.S. Talawar, Director, IUCTE, RIE, NCERT, Mysuru, welcomed. A group of 30 teacher educators, representing Central University, Kasargod, Kerala,  Mysore University, Andhra DIETS, and IUCTE faculty, participated in the workshop. Shravan Kumar Pendyala of IUCTE, Mysuru was the workshop Coordinator.
