Workshop for Telugu teachers at CIIL

Mysuru: A six-day training-cum-workshop on ‘Testing and Evaluation and Item Writing’ for the Assistant Professors and Research Scholars of Telugu Language began at National Testing Service-India (NTS-I) of Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru on Monday.  

Pankaj Dwivedi, Officer In-charge of NTS-I, welcomed and briefed about the activities of the NTS-I. He said that the present workshop would benefit the researchers and enrich them in the area of testing and evaluation.

Prof. P. Rozario Dharmesh Fernandez, Professor-cum- Deputy Director of CIIL and Head, NTS-I spoke about the importance of testing and evaluation methods in the current education system.   

Prof. P. Perumal Swamy, Professor-cum-Deputy Director of CIIL said that the present workshop was very exclusive as it presents a unique opportunity to the teachers to upgrade their knowledge in the area of language testing and evaluation.  

Dr. L. Ramamoorthy, Reader-cum-Research Officer, CIIL, said that evaluation is the hub of all issues pertaining to quality education, but now-a-days education system of the country lags behind due to lack of proper evaluation method. In this regard, teachers should develop critical and lateral thinking skills in them to serve quality education for the nation, he said and added that NTS is the first scheme of the country which is especially meant for fulfilling the testing and evaluation purposes of the country.     

Dr. Harinath, RIE, Mysuru, Dr. Mathew CRP, NTM, CIIL are training the participants along with NTS-I faculties — Dr. V. Ilangovan, Dr. Biresh Kumar, Dr. G.M. Ansari, Dr. Md. Saleem, Dr. R. Shakunthala, Dr. Sanjay Prasad Srivastava, and Dr. N. Murali Mohana.  Dr. V. Ilangovan, SRP, and Dr. Sharmila Pratima, Resource Person-Telugu, NTS-I are coordinating the workshop under the overall guidance of Prof.  Rozario Dharmesh and Pankaj Dwivedi. Prof. D. G. Rao, Director, CIIL, Mysuru is the overall patron of the workshop.

About 30 Assistant professors and research scholars who    are engaged in teaching/research of Telugu (Language & Literature) in recognised Undergraduate Colleges and Universities across the country are participating in this training-cum-workshop.
