January 20, 2020

Hunsur: A youth, who had come to a wedding hall in the guise of a relative and stole a gold chain is now cooling his heels at the Police Station.

The youth, who had stolen the gold chain, is 23-year-old Hemanth, a resident of Ranganatha Layout in Hunsur. He had stolen the gold chain of one Sunil of Biligere.

Sunil had come to Adinarayana Kalyana Mantap on Hanagod Road on Saturday to attend the marriage ceremony of his uncle’s son which was to be held on Sunday.

Accused Hemanth, who had come to the wedding hall in the guise of attending the marriage function, introduced himself to Sunil and one Venkatesh. He (Hemanth) later stayed for the night at a room along with Sunil and Venkatesh. When Sunil and Venkatesh were sleeping, Hemanth managed to steal the 21 grams gold chain which Sunil was wearing, went to his home,  hid it and later came back to the wedding hall to attend the wedding.

When Sunil did not find his gold chain after he woke up in the morning, he questioned Venkatesh and Hemanth during which he found Hemanth acting suspiciously following which Sunil lodged a complaint with the Police.

The Police, who took Hemanth into their custody on suspicion, questioned him, during which Hemanth is said to have confessed of committing the crime. Hemanth went to his house and got the gold chain of Sunil, which he had stolen and gave it to the Police.

Hunsur Town Police, who registered a case, produced Hemanth before a Court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Head Constable Jagadish and staff Prabhakar, Bharatesh and Prasad took part in the operation.
