Srirangapatna: A youth has been found dead with his head allegedly smashed with a large stone in Srirangapatna taluk.

The body was found on the road leading from Ganjam village to Chikka Nayakanahalli village by passersby at about 8 am today. 

It is suspected that miscreants may have bludgeoned the youth identified as Ananth (45), son of Narayanaswamy of Kalamma Street in Ganjam last night. Deceased Ananth is said to have left his house yesterday afternoon and had not returned.

Srirangapatna Rural Police, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and have registered a case.
