Youth dies of severe head injuries in road accident

Mysuru:  A 30-year-old youth died on-the-spot due to severe head injuries in an accident that took place on Shalimar Theatre Road in Tilak Nagar here on Jan.21. Unfortunately, the youth was found wearing a sub-standard helmet and had not even fastened the chin strap.

According to a press release from the office of the City Police Commissioner, the youth has been identified as J. Darshan, son of Jagannath Rao and a resident of Tilak Nagar in city.

Darshan was reportedly riding his scooter in a rash and negligent manner on Shalimar Theatre Road, when he lost control and hit a roadside stone resulting in him falling, being dragged on the road and bleeding from head, ear and nose. He died on-the-spot.

City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao has urged all two-wheeler riders and pillion riders to wear ISI marked helmets and fasten the chin strap for their safety.
