Youth stabbed to death

September 1, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: A 23-year-old youth was brutally stabbed to death while another one, who came to his rescue, was also stabbed in Udayagiri Police Station limits on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Venkatesh alias Kariya, aged 23 years of Kyathamaranahalli while the injured has been identified as Naveen alias Jollu, also of Kyathamaranahalli.

Venkatesh, who was out on bail in a criminal case after serving two months in prison, had arrived  at a Ganesha Pandal  in Kyathamaranahalli, when he received a phone call at about 9.30 pm. Following the call, Venkatesh left on his scooter and half-an-hour later, someone telephoned Venkatesh’s family members informing that Venkatesh was lying dead near Kyathamaranahalli Tent Circle. Soon the family members and their neighbours rushed to the spot, when Venkatesh was found lying in a pool of blood after being stabbed to death while Naveen, who went to the rescue of Venkatesh, too was stabbed and rushed to K.R. Hospital for treatment.

Venkatesh is said to have a running feud with one Chandru alias Chicken Chandru and Chandu Shetty of the same locality (K.M.Halli) for the past couple of years. Yesterday night, Chandru and Shetty  summoned Venkatesh to Kyathamaranahalli Tent Circle for reaching a compromise and as he reached the spot, the duo stabbed him to death and fled from the spot.

The  Police have launched a manhunt to nab the absconding duo, it is learnt.

Udayagiri Police, led by Inspector P.K. Raju, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, registered a case  and shifted Venkatesh’s body to MMC&RI  Mortuary for post-mortem.  Meanwhile,  Naveen who is being treated at K.R. Hospital for stab injuries, is said to be recovering.
