3rd Saturday likely to be holiday this month

October 8, 2018

Bengaluru: The State government is contemplating to declare third Saturday a holiday for its employees instead of the usual second Saturday this month. However, this arrangement will be only for the month of October.

Holidays for Ayudha Puja and Vijayadashami are falling on Oct. 18 and 19 respectively and Oct. 21 is a Sunday. It is usually seen that many employees tend to take leave on the intervening Saturday (Oct.20). Instead, Oct. 20, the third Saturday, will be declared a holiday and employees will be asked to work on second Saturday (Oct.13).

Sources in the Chief Minister’s Office said that the move is a result of the suggestion by Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy.

The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) is likely to issue official orders in a day or two, the sources added.
