Justice V. Gopala Gowda to deliver address
Mysuru: The 4th Convocation of St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Bannimantap, Mysuru, will be held tomorrow (Sept.28) at the College Indoor Stadium at 10 am.
Justice V. Gopala Gowda, Retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India, will be the chief guest. The Convocation Ceremony will be presided over by Most. Rev. Dr. K.A. William, Bishop of Mysore Diocese and the Chairman of Mysore Diocesan Educational Society (MDES). Prof. Aisha M. Sheriff, Acting Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore (UoM), will be the guest of honour.
During the Convocation, 113 male and 142 female graduating candidates from the UG and 56 male and 76 female candidates from the PG will be awarded with the degrees.
A total of 7 Under-Graduate and 8 Post-Graduate candidates will be honoured with stream-wise Gold Medals and 29 Under-Graduates with Gold Medals based on the subjects.
Students, who have registered and those yet to register their names, are advised to report at the registration counter (near the PG block) at 8.30 am to collect the convocation stole and the seat numbers.
Msgr. Rev. Leslie Moras, Episcopal Vicar of Educational Institutions and Health Care Management (MDES), Rev. Fr. Vijay Kumar, Secretary of MDES, Rev. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis, Rector and Manager of the College, Dr. Ruth Shanthakumari, Principal and Dr. Alphonsus D’Souza, Controller of Examinations, will be present on the occasion.
Cash awards, instituted in the name of Sir T.R.A. Thumboochetty, who was the Private Secretary to the erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore, will be awarded to the students securing the highest marks in Arts, Science, Commerce and Post-Graduation streams.
