735th show of Mukhyamantri at Kalamandira on Apr. 18

Mysore/Mysuru: Over the last four decades, the Kannada play ‘Mukhyamantri’ has made its mark as a classic and has completed over 700 shows worldwide and the 735th show will be staged at Kalamandira on Apr. 18  at 7 pm.

Director of the play Dr. B. V Rajaram and lead actor Mukhymantri Chandru will be felicitated at 6 pm. Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will grace the occasion. Former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah will be the chief guest.

‘Mukhyamantri’ is the Kannada translation of a Hindi play by T.S. Lohitashwa. The original Hindi play was authored by Ranjit Kapoor, written in the 1976. Through his role in this play, the lead actor Mukhyamantri Chandru, who is a veteran of 500-odd films, earned his moniker, ‘Mukhyamantri.’

Addressing a press meet at Patrakartara Bhavan recently, play director Dr. B.V Rajaram and Mukhyamantri Chandru shared their experiences and four-decade long association with this popular play.
