Mysore/Mysuru: In a pre-dawn operation that began at 5 am today, the City Police raided the houses of 92 rowdy-sheeters and seized lethal weapons from one house and found a banished rowdy-sheeter sleeping inside his house.  This is the fourth such operation conducted under the guidance of City Police Commissioner Ramesh Banoth, after the maiden operation held on Dec. 13, 2022, where the houses of 48 rowdy-sheeters were raided and on Feb. 14, 2023, where the houses of 76 rowdy-sheeters were searched in a similar fashion.

On March 21, 2023, a 15-hour search was launched to check for rowdy elements, contraband and narcotics in jail, transportation of cash, liquor and election freebies on the roads and search for weapons in the houses of  50 rowdy-sheeters. Today’s raid began at 5 am in all the Police Station limits of the city and concluded at around 7.30 am where the rowdy-sheeters were warned not to carry out any illegal activities including threatening and blackmailing voters ahead of and after the elections.

The raid was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) M. Muthuraj and the ACPs, Inspectors and staff under his command. During the operation, one rowdy-sheeter Shoaib, who was banished from Mysuru City to Chikkaballapur as he was suspected of creating trouble, was found sleeping inside his house. Now another case has been booked against him and he has been asked to immediately leave for Chikkaballapur.

Lethal weapons including daggers and swords were recovered from the house of ‘RX Manu’ and a case has been booked under the relevant provisions of law. The rowdy-sheeters were warned of arrest if they are found indulging in anti-social activities like rioting, threatening voters in the name of helping candidates during elections, finance and real estate and several other activities in an illicit way.
