9th standard car driver kills 3 of a family

December 11, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: A minor boy, who was allegedly behind the wheels of a car, rammed the vehicle into a two-wheeler killing three persons of a family near Dandi Maramma Temple on Mysuru-Bengaluru Road yesterday night.

The deceased have been identified as Ramesh (41), working as a cashier at a bar and restaurant in city, his wife Usha (36) and son Manish (5). Another son Siddarth, three-year-old, who sustained injuries in the mishap, is undergoing treatment at K.R. Hospital here. They were residents of T.K. Layout in city.

While husband, wife and son died on the spot, another escaped with injuries.

Police said at the time of accident, a minor boy, who is said to be a 9th standard student, was driving the car.

According to eyewitnesses, the car was proceeding towards Bengaluru side when it hit the road median near Dandi Maramma Temple on Mysuru-Bengaluru Road and jumped to the other side of the road and hit the two-wheeler which was coming from Bengaluru side.

On Thursday morning, Ramesh, with his family members had gone to his in-laws’ house at Siddalingapura on his Hero Honda Splendor bike (KA-10-H-9100). After spending the day, they left Siddalingapura and when they were travelling on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Road at about 9.50 pm, a car (KA-09-ME-6681) coming from the opposite direction jumped over the road divider and hit the bike. The minor boy is also said to be injured and undergoing treatment at a private hospital in city.

Meanwhile, it was heart-rending to see the grieving relatives of the deceased who thronged the mortuary at MMC&RI.

Underage children driving vehicles rampant in city, allege public

Meanwhile, the public have alleged that underage children driving vehicles (both cars and bikes) has become rampant in the city. It is being regularly noticed not only in residential localities but also on major roads and Highways, they said.

They said that minors (12-16 years) driving with one or even two pillions (triple riding) or taking elders as pillion(s) is also seen and added that it is a pity that parents or  guardians are not only giving their cars and bikes to their minor wards, but also encouraging underage driving. The ability of their children to drive is seen as an achievement by some parents and this has led to many deaths of innocent people, the public said.

They said that parents are neither worried about road safety nor the penalty and allow their minors to drive when they themselves are travelling as pillions.

Very sad. Along with the boy, the owner of the car should also be arrested and put behind bars. Parents think it as a fad to allow their children to drive 2 wheeler and cars without license. They think that anybody can drive. Wonder what is the role of traffic cops? they should have surprise tour of residential areas between 6 am and 9 am, and catch all underage children driving two wheeler to their tution classes. These children not only endanger their life but also the life of others.

“The ability of their children to drive is seen as an achievement by some parents and this has led to many deaths of innocent people, the public said”: Very much true. Also, some parents are proud of their sons (in particular) speeding with silencer removed.

It is another incident to prove that there is not value for lives here. It is very unfortunate to see a 9th standard boy drives a car which is allowed by parents and been responsible for killing people. Being frustrated seeing this every now and then. Do we even have a law to book his parents including him? No dought this case might go for 30 to 40 years and the boy keep roming with the another posh car in the name of status for there family. He might also contest elections,, may also win, may also give vitamin M for the officials to get rid of the case. But for sure the murderer boy might become some celebrity in future for wrong reasons like these.

A driver who killed a passenger by negligent driving gets Rs 7500 fine and one year Simple imprisonment after 16 years. This boy under the same law or better will get a slap on his hand and let go free. I guess now cows have better life protection than humans.

  5. concerned citizen says:

What a tragedy! The parents of the minor MUST face SEVERE punishment for the arrogance of breaking the law, taking of three innocent lives and destroying the life of the sole surviving child. This reckless behavior of the parents and the boy MUST be punished by putting the parents behind bars and the boy debarred from all educational institutions. As this lawless family did not value the life of other people the only way to set an example is to make sure they bear consequences that they CAUSED for someone else. This earned burden of punishment will hopefully deter any one else who even thinks of committing such a reckless act.

The reckless family has to be made to immediately set aside all the money and resources required for the sole survivor to be raised with as close to a normal life as possible, including all educational expenses till the person is able to find their first meaningful job.

An automobile even with a responsible and careful adult should always be treated as a potential danger for its occupants and any people around them. It is this fear that makes the users of a vehicle aware of the responsibility that comes hand-in-hand with the freedom of movement a vehicle provides.

To willfully be reckless is a danger society must punish as the worst of crimes.

What about who alive now? Who will take care of him. We saw daily 10 to 15 boy or girl riding bike in road with out helmet and other rule. What is action in them

Such a sad tragedy. That little kid who is alive will have to bear the heavy-weight of parentless upbringing. On top of punishing the culprits, they should also be made to pay an allowance for the surviving kid until he reaches 18 or 21 and also set-up a fund for his future education. It’s not a replacement for his parents, but it will definitely improve his quality of life.
