K.R. Nagar: Two persons were killed while three others escaped unhurt when the car they were travelling fell off from Doddakere water tank bridge at Bherya in the taluk late last night.

The deceased have been identified as Dasarath (28) and Shivanna (27) of Devegowdana Koppal in Periyapatna town.

Dasarath and Shivanna, along with three others, also from Periyapatna town were returning to Periyapatna after attending ‘Pitrupaksha’ at a village near Bherya at about 10.30 pm when the car (KA-03-MH 4909) went out of control and fell into the Doddakere Tank on Bherya-K.R. Pet Road.

Dasarath and Shivanna who were said to be seated in the front died while three others escaped unhurt. While Dasharath’s body was retrieved from the spot, Shivanna’s body was found at a farmland 100 mts away, thus giving rise to suspicion that Shivanna may have died enroute to the hospital. The three persons who escaped unhurt, are said to have fled from the spot.

Saligrama Police have registered a case in this regard and are investigating.
