MIT staffer killed in mishap

Mysuru – An employee of Maharaja Institute of Technology (MIT) at Thandavapura, was killed on the spot when he was fatally knocked down by an unidentified vehicle at Kadakola on Mysuru-Nanjangud road late last night.

The deceased has been identified as Madhu (32), son of Venkategowda of Kirangandur in Mandya taluk. Madhu was walking along the road at about 10.30pm, when he was knocked down by a speeding vehicle near the Punjabi Dhaba at Kadakola, it is learnt. Kadakola Police who rushed to the spot, shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary. Mysuru South Police who have registered a hit-and-run case in this regard, are investigating.

Madhu’s last rites were performed at his native village Kirangandur this afternoon, according to sources. His body was taken to MIT in Belavadi here, where he had worked for sometime for the students to pay their last respects. As a mark of respect, the Institute declared a half day holiday today.
