57th National Pharmacy Week celebrations from tomorrow

Mysuru:  In a bid to create awareness among the public about the profession of Pharmacist and the role a Pharmacist plays to make a Healthier India, The Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Mysore Local branch, along with JSS College of Pharmacy, other Pharmacy Colleges and organisations, has organised the 57th National Pharmacy Week Celebrations from tomorrow (Dec.5) to Dec.8 in city.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here this morning, IPA Immediate Past President Dr. G.V. Pujar said that the celebrations with the theme ‘Pharmacists for a Healthy India’ will be held by conducting various programmes from tomorrow and a stage programme will be held on Dec.8 at 10.30 am at Sri Rajendra Auditorium in JSS College of Pharmacy premises at Shivarathreeswanagar in city.

Dr. Pujar said that health camps will be held simultaneously from 7 am to 10 am at the Torchlight Parade Grounds in Bannimantap, Lalitha Mahal helipad and the foot of Chamundi Hill (near the steps) on Dec.5 (tomorrow) and added that a throwball tournament for women will be held later at Farooqia College of Pharmacy.

On Dec.6, an awareness rally will be taken out from JSS College of Pharmacy premises which will be flagged off by University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar at 9 am in which about 1,000 students from various Pharmacy Colleges in Mysuru and Mandya districts will participate.

On Dec.7, INITIUM-2018, an inter-collegiate competition which includes various cultural and literary events will be held.

On Dec.8, a blood donation camp will be held at 9.30 am followed by a stage programme to mark the National Pharmacy Week.

The stage programme will be inaugurated by Dr. B. Suresh, VC of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru and President of Pharmacy Council of India, at Sri Rajendra Auditorium in JSS College of Pharmacy premises at 10.30 am.

Tourism Minister S.R. Mahesh and Drugs Controller Amaresh Tumbagi will be the chief guests. Dr. Md. Salahuddin, Principal of Farooqia College of Pharmacy and Vice-President of IPA Mysuru and Dr. Hanumanthachar Joshi, Principal of Sarada Vilas College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, will be the guests of honour. Dr. T.M. Pramod Kumar, Principal of JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru  and President of IPA Mysuru, will preside.
