‘BJP involved in vindictive politics’

September 4, 2019

Mysuru, Sept. 4 (PM&VNS)- Congress leaders have accused the BJP Government of misusing Central agencies to target senior Congress leaders.

Addressing media persons at Jaladarshini Guest House and Patrakarthara Bhavan yesterday, former MP R. Dhruvanarayan and State Mahila Congress President Dr. Pushpa Amarnath said that the Centre targeted former Minister D.K. Shivakumar after he safeguarded Gujarat MLAs from being poached during the election of Congress leader Ahmed Patel to Rajya Sabha from Gujarat.

BJP, which suffered a setback in the polls, influenced Income Tax Department and Enforcement Directorate to conduct raids on Shivakumar.

Dhruvanarayan also mentioned that BJP only protected those leaders who shift their loyalty and joined the BJP despite being accused in financial scams.

He also said that State BJP Government had appointed Laxman Savadi and Dr. Ashwath Narayan as Deputy CMs as a reward for taking care of 17 disqualified MLAs in Mumbai to topple the Congress-JD(S) coalition government.

Taking a dig at the Centre, Dhruvanarayan, said that the Centre had not released a single rupee towards the flood relief despite 15 districts in the State suffering severely in the recent floods.

Even the Deputy CMs have failed to convince the Centre to release the flood relief fund, he added.

Mid-term Polls soon: Dhruvanarayan said that the State would face mid-term polls soon and Congress would come back to power.

‘Undeclared Emergency’

Pushpa Amarnath said that the country was facing an undeclared emergency with the BJP targeting Congress leaders.

Alleging that Rs. 1,000 crore was spent for the recent ‘Operation Kamala,’ she questioned as to why the ED was not investigating these allegations.
