BSY seeks apology from media

May 8, 2017

Mysuru: State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa (BSY) who tried to catch the attention of the media persons who were forced to sit outside the venue on the second and concluding day of the State BJP Executive Meet at Rajendra Kalamandir, was forced to get out of his car and go near them.

The media people who were very upset with the way they were kept out of the gates even though they tried to impress upon the leaders of the BJP to at least allow them inside the venue and not necessarily into the meeting place, were in no mood to relent when Yeddyurappa tried placate them.

At around 4 pm on Sunday, after the valedictory of the was over, he asked the driver to stop the car when he saw media persons sitting on the steps of the shops across the road facing the gate of the venue.  As he approached media persons, they expressed their anger regarding  the way the party was handling the media and said that not only were they not given any news about the ongoing meet but were also denied entry into the premises. Focusing their ire against Arvind Limbavali, they said that it was not expected of a leader of a national party to behave the way Limbavali did the previous day at the press briefing (Limbavali had not only asked the media not to write about a few things but had also walked out in a huff when the media started asking him questions about Eshwarappa).

Trying to placate the enraged media persons, Yeddyurappa said that since internal party matters would be discussed in the executive committee meeting, the media is not allowed inside, and this direction had come from the national leaders of the party.  “If there is any mistake from our side, please pardon us,” Yeddyurappa requested the media with folded hands.

A few media persons told BSY that it was not right on the part of a senior leader like him to fold his hands and seek an apology. Instead, if his party had given information sought from the media, then this situation could have been avoided, they told him.

He assured that he would see to it that in future such confusions would be avoided.
