Rejuvenate home for Monsoon

May 8, 2017

After the scorching summer months, monsoon brings the much needed respite and with it a feeling of regeneration as new trees, plants and seeds sprout and germinate through the seasons of winter. The beautiful colours and the soft winds together with overcast skies, bring sudden rain creating feeling of joy

The energy of the home transforms completely and with it our thinking too. The energy referred to as Chi in Feng Shui is said to be the breath of the universe or life force. When the energy is low we feel down and have lack of focus in all that we do.

On the basis of the five element analysis in Feng Shui, the seasons have a strong impact on our physical body and mental attitude. In Feng Shui astrology and the science of divination known as “I – ching” the primary consideration is the season and it is said that for all analysis, the “Season is supreme.” To everything there is a season and the five elements in Feng Shui relate as fire to summer, metal to autumn, water is winter and wood to spring while the element earth mediates between them. Everything including relationships has a seasonal cycle and we should honour every phase. If relationships have been passionate in early stages during summer and you find them going quieter don’t be dismayed and force things back. During the rain phase, couples enjoy the quiet contentment of deep emotion and can spend an evening happily engaged in separate activities barely speaking. This will eventually turn into wood phase which would make the relationships to move on.

During monsoon times we can brighten up the place and also take a look at our wardrobe to adapt colours in the décor and dress to boost our internal Chi energy.

  • Stick to personal attire which gives you warmth and avoid colours like blues, blacks and shades of grey.
  • Ensure windows are thrown open once in a while if you are keeping them shut due to monsoon to ensure free flow of Chi and avoid stagnation.
  • Ensure water is not stagnating in and around your building and the water is free flowing. You will see that during the monsoon months no colour is true bright. Hence we can even have colours which have special significance as décor to boost the energy flow.
  • Turquoise is the colour that signifies monsoon most closely. It is a colour that would fill you up with warmth. Turquoise is the colour that is associated with royalty therefore it would just give you the right effect. The shade is soothing to the eyes and it can be mixed with other colours to create a cool ambiance. Your interior decorator can also guide you about the best ways in which you can use this particular hue for your interiors.
  • The shade of yellow and orange are truly unique and they help in creating warmth and a unique ambiance. You can use these two colours in various different places, from your living area to your kitchen. One great way of using these colours in your interiors is by bringing some fresh flowers in the shade of yellow and orange.
  • Purple is the colour that symbolises royalty and combining it with shades of pink would truly make it appearing more beautiful. Placing decorative accessories like carpets, mats, flower vases, paintings and many others in the shades of purple and pink.
