Mysuru: Marking International Nurses Day-2017, BGS International Foundation for Health Sciences, Apollo BGS Hospital, had organised a function at BGS Multipurpose Hall on Adichunchanagiri Road in Kuvempunagar here on Saturday. The theme of the programme was ‘Nursing: A voice to lead-achieveing sustainable development goals.’
Five achievers in the profession of Nursing — Nanjundaiah, Vice-Principal, BMH School of Nursing, Madhu, retired Principal, SCBDS School of Nursing, Mary P. Antony, Dean, GGSMH School of Nursing, Christabel Shanta Kumari, retired Assistant Nursing Superintendent, Mission Hospital and Kalamurthy, Nursing Superintendent, Kamakshi Hospital — were felicitated on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Umesh Kamath, Medical Superintendent, Kamakshi Hospital, opined that nursing was a very noble profession which needed thorough dedication and a mind to handle stressful situations.
He pointed out that Nurses can come across many challenges and when faced with courage and confidence, the career could be very rewarding and satisfactory. However, he asked Nurses to give a patient hearing to problems of patients which could be achieved with good communication skills.
The function was inaugurated by Sri Someshwaranatha Swamiji, Pontiff, Adichunchanagiri Mutt, Mysuru Branch, who is the Secretary of BGS International Foundation for Health Sciences (IFHS), Vinod Appaiah, General Manager, Apollo BGS Hospital, Aruna Devi, Principal, BGS Nursing College and others were present.
