Mysore/Mysuru: Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji said that D. Ram Singh’s family has dedicated itself for the conservation of ancient art and craft forms.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Ramsons Kala Pratishtana in city recently.
Pointing out that the forefathers of late Ram Singh came to Mysuru as migrants from Rajasthan and now, several generations later, this family not only served the royalty but is also working tirelessly to preserve Mysuru’s rich heritage, the Seer said that Ramsons was home to many painters and craftsmen.
Noting that an artist can give his best when he is left totally undisturbed, the Seer complimented the Pratishtana for organising the popular annual Dasara Doll show ‘Bombe Mane’ and bi-annual ‘Kreeda Kaushalya’ expo.
Maintaining that honouring an artist is like honouring art itself, he lauded the Pratishtana for promoting painters and artists throughout its 25-year journey.
Stating that there was no need for any true artist to get honoured through recommendation, the Seer said that Ramsons Kala Pratishtana had made it a habit to unearth talent and honour artists.
Marking the Silver Jubilee celebration, eminent artist Dr. B.K.S. Varma inaugurated ‘Ramsingh’s Museum of Mysuru Paintings’ at No.285, Kalankur, Zoo Main road.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that art too is a language of expression and this consists of historical, prose and poetical languages. Asserting that the job of an artist is to piece these languages in a picture form, he lauded the Pratishtana for opening a first-of-its-kind Museum for Mysore-style paintings.
Kuldip Singh, an Architect and Town Planner from New Delhi, released the booklet ‘Mysuru Chitra Siri’ on the occasion. Pratishtana Secretary R.G.Singh and others were present.
The Museum has a permanent display of about 250 timeless and unique paintings, exhibited in ‘Parlour style’. For details, call Mob:98801-11625.
