Silk India – 2020: 10-day expo to be hosted by Hastashilpi at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry

Mysore/Mysuru: India is the number one producer of silk in the world for which there is a huge demand both in the national as well as international markets. Different varieties of silk are reared based on climatic and geographic conditions of which only four namely Tussar, Eri, Mulberry and Muga are the prominent ones. Tussar and Muga are wild varieties of silk cultivated by silk worms fed on organically grown trees. Bihar, Assam and Chattisgarh are the three States where Tussar and Muga are produced.

Hastashilpi has organised a 10-day ‘Silk India-2020’ expo at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry on Vinoba Road in city from Nov. 20 to 29. The Expo will be open for public from 10.30 am to 8.30 pm.

Various Silk Saree Weavers, Handloom Clusters and Silk Co-operative Societies will be showcasing their products at the expo  so that the products reach customers directly, without any middlemen, said Hastashilpi Organiser T. Abhinand.

“Arni Silk Sarees, Crepe and Georgette Silk Sarees, Chiffon Silk Sarees, Tussar Silk Sarees and Suit, Kanjeevaram Silk Sarees & Wedding Sarees, Designer Fancy Sarees, Dharmavaram Silk Sarees, Raw Silk, Jute Silk Sarees, Dhaka Silk Sarees, Handloom Silk Cotton Sarees, Silk Blends Sarees and Stole, Silk Shawls, Uppada, Gadwal, Paithani Sarees, Mangalagiri and Pochampalli Silk Sarees and much many more products from across the country will be available under one roof,” he added.

Apart from that, Hand Block Print Sarees, Suit & Silk Bed Covers, Designer Dress Materials, Kurtis, Hand Woven Matka and Assam Muga Fabrics, Apoorva Silk Sarees,  Dhaka Masli, Gicha Sarees, Boutique Sarees, Kantha Sarees, Zardosi, Lucknow Chikan Work Sarees, Bhagalpur Suits, Printed Silk Sarees, Banarasi Sarees, Reshmi Plain and Butti Sarees, Maheswari, Chanderi Silk Sarees and Suit and Kota Silk, Mulberry Silk with Temple Border, Banaras Jamdani, Hand-Woven Sarees will on display.
