Sait defends his action

February 27, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Even as Sait’s supporters indulged in sloganeering against Opposition Leader Siddharamaiah and former Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar for issuing notice threat to him, N.R. MLA Tanveer Sait said that the decision to hand over the Mayor post to JD(S), has only enhanced the prestige of the Congress as the party was successful in keeping the communal BJP out of power.

Speaking to presspersons at his residence yesterday, Sait defended his action saying that he had not done anything wrong and whatever he had done, was only for the good of the Congress. Sait said that he had taken the decision to save the party and also uphold the democratic principles as envisaged in the Constitution.

Reiterating that his action has upheld democratic principles and at the same time enhanced the prestige of  Congress, he said that the Congress has supported a secular party, while also ensuring that the Congress principles are not sacrificed.

Asserting that the party had  taken him into confidence in the Mayoral polls, Sait reiterated that his decision was a wise move to stop the BJP from getting the Mayor post. Pointing out that he has explained in detail to the Party High Command on the last minute developments in the run up to the Mayoral polls, the MLA claimed that he had not acted in his personal interest and had only done what was the best for the party.

Meanwhile, speaking to presspersons here this morning, Sait that he was ready to face any disciplinary action if the party opts to issue                               a notice to him. Strongly defending his action, Sait said that he was not scared of any disciplinary action.
