Renovated gym at Chamundi Vihar Stadium to be opened soon

July 12, 2021

A gymnasium at Chamundi Vihar Stadium is undergoing renovation to become full-fledged to cater to health conscious citizens and sports persons.

If everything goes well, it will be ready for inauguration in the next one or two months.

This will slowly open up sports activities which had remained suspended for many months due to COVID-19 pandemic.

On behalf of Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL), this gymnasium is being renovated at a cost of Rs. 28 lakh. Works such as lighting, mat, fan and air-conditioning are being done. The equipment have been provided by the Department. Only a few works were pending. This kind of gymnasium cannot be found anywhere in the district, G. Omprakash, Assistant Director, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES), told Star of Mysore.

The gymnasium is renovated to improve health of general public and sports persons in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

This state-of-the-art gymnasium will start functioning within one or two months. Over 700 sports persons have taken membership and also obtained the ID card. The renovated gymnasium helps around 200 sports persons who are residing at Chamundi Vihar Stadium Sports Hostel.

Omprakash said, while private gymnasiums charge a minimum monthly fees of Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000, the Department gymnasium is planning to charge Rs. 1,000 per month. Health conscious people can make use of the modern equipment at very low fees.

The inmates of the Sports Hostel would be allowed to use the gymnasium free for three days in a week. The gymnasium will be allowed to be used by the sports persons with ID card and the registered general public.
