Nanjangud: A newly wed, committed suicide at her grandfather’s house in Srirampura village here yesterday. She was married three months ago.

The deceased is K.S. Varshitha (20), daughter of K.G. Somashekar, a resident of Karya village in the taluk. She was given in marriage to one Abhishek of Chamarajanagar on May 8, 2022. As it was Ashada season, she had come to her parents’ house in July. Later, she is said to be staying at her grandfather Shivarajappa’s house in Rampura village.

On Tuesday morning, Varshitha is said to have gone for a bath. As she did not come out after a long time, the bathroom door was broken only to find her hanging. She was immediately rushed to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru, where the doctors declared her brought dead.

The body was shifted to MMC&RI mortuary in Mysuru for post-mortem and Hullahalli Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
